My Journey to Fitness

I joined a gym for the first time in my fifties after traveling around the world and retiring from a successful corporate career spanning 35 years in finance and information systems. My goal was to get in shape so I started by taking a yoga classes.

Lifting weights wasn’t something I ever envisioned. The words “bodybuilder” or “athlete” were not in my vocabulary and certainly did not apply to me.

I was never into working out. I decided it was time to start lifting weights with the intent to compete in a bodybuilding competition. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. I was in my fifties when I competed in my first bodybuilding competition.

I consider myself to be in the best shape of my life and I’m still competing in my sixties. I have competed in several competitions in the Masters 45 Class. I typically competed against women eight to ten years younger than me and I’ve placed in every competition. I am Nationally Qualified as a Figure Fitness Competitor and hope to soon obtain my pro card.
